How to Prevent Crime in Neighborhood
The times are indeed so rough today that many people are resorting to criminal acts to make ends meet. Even if other people commit crimes for other reasons, we still have to work and try to prevent crimes in our very own neighborhoods. Regardless of the type of criminal with evil intentions of stealing your belongings or harming you and your family, there are three simple ways you can prevent crime from happening in your home and in your neighborhood.
First of all, you have to be watchful. This means you have to get to know your neighbors. When you know who regularly walks the streets and passes by at specific times, you’ll know exactly who to be suspicious of. In case there’s a new individual about your neighborhood, you’ll be on the alert. You have to pay attention to their appearance and what they were wearing that particular day you saw them. If there are strange vehicles passing by, make a note of the license plate.
The second step for preventing crime in your neighborhood is to make sure that you have a secure home. If it’s easy for you home to break into, it’s going to call to unscrupulous people. Always make sure that doors and windows are locked. This doesn’t only mean when you’re away but even if you’re alone at home and are staying in one specific part of your home. It’s here, you and your neighbors can work together in keeping a watchful eye on each other’s property. If you have the means, invest in a security system for your home.
The lines of communication also have to be clear between you and your neighbors. You have to get to know them as much as possible. If you have to, join community events to make sure you know everyone around you. Finally, when a crime is in progress, go ahead and call for help.
