For all the improvements and advancements our societies have been a witness too, we are sadly plagued by crimes in the community and in the neighborhood.  In an effort to protect everyone’s rights and ensure that every member of the community is safe, community policing in the form of community citizens working together to prevent crime has been created.  It has been found that when regular people of the community help governmental organizations and agencies with keeping the streets safe, it’s a far more effective way for preventing and reducing the instance of crime.

Working on its own, the police and the legal system only actually sprung into action when a crime has been committed.  People have already been hurt and have become a victim of a crime before something is done about the situation.  With the community taking part in its safety, crimes are put to a stop even before they’ve begun.  Through simple methods like ensuring your home is well protected with an alarm/security system, that neighbors keep watch of each other’s property, the organization of the neighborhood watch and so on, crimes don’t need to happen.

It’s also with how aware the people in the community are about crimes and what they can do to put a stop to it that the community citizens working together to prevent crime is such a success.  Hand in hand with government agencies like the office of the district attorney, any crime that’s occurring in your community, you’ll be notified of through your email.  The more aware people are, the more vigilant they become.  If there are suspicious people in the neighborhood, the people are already alerted to their presence and they can take measures to ensure that the community is safe.

If in case, a crime has already been committed, the victims of a crime can get help straight away.  They won't have to suffer in silence and suffer alone with community citizens working together to prevent crime.  If they need advice on the justice system like filing for their case, getting representation, etc., they’ll easily get it from the experts.  With crime increasingly taking on a life of its, own, the members of the community can take the streets back from crime with the help of community citizens working together to prevent crime.
